Marketing of Kendu Leaves is done by OFDC through online tender and open auctions. In a year 6-7 auctions are conducted at Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar where traders from across the country participate. In Odisha, bidi manufacturing units are located mostly in Sambalpur district, where most of the traders are also based. In India, bidi manufacturing are mainly concentrated in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal. Kendu leaf of Odisha is also exported to Kerala, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. In general, Rs 60- 100 crore of leaves are sold in one auction which spreads over 3-4 days.
